I simulated the rest of the season, and here’s what it spit out based on where we’re at through August 12:
American League East End of Year Standings
Tom Cat’s – 60-34-2
Fajita Eaters – 52-44
G.I. Zo’s – 26-69-1
Banocolates – 20-75-1
American League West
Baby Seals – 59-36-1
BRob’s Barnacles 59-36-1
Your Mom – 57-39
Scared Hitless – 47-47-2
National League East
Ball Busters – 54-40-2
The Big Hurts – 52-43-1
Mauling Tigers – 51-43-2
Rollin’ Goats – 30-63-3
National League West
Danimals 59-36-1
Motley Shue 55-39-2
Kelly’s Heroes – 41-50-4
Pro Bowlers – 34-61-1
This is going to be a really fun end of the season. Every single week has a ton of weight. If these were to be the real results of the season, it would have Your Mom clinching the final playoff spot in the American League just a few games ahead of Fajita Eaters.
Similarly in the West, it comes down to just a couple of games and we have Motley Shue snagging the last playoff spot over Mauling Tigers.
My favorite part is that Tom Cat’s pulls down the best record overall. I predict Tom Cat’s to take home the trophy this year.
Quick Ranks
(1 & 2, in any order) Danimals, Your Mom – I believe these are the two most well-balanced teams and have an upper quarter batting and pitching.
(3 & 4) Motley Shue, Scared Hitless – these teams aren’t far behind talent-wise, but have had some hard luck they’ll need to climb out of for this season.
(5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 ) The Big Hurts, Ball Busters, Mauling Tigers, Baby Seals, Tom Cat’s, BRob’s Barnacles – this clump of teams all have an offense that could take them to the championship this year. That said, I think these teams all have a weakness in pitching that will likely cost them in the playoffs. Although, with such a short season don’t be surprised if one of these teams runs through the playoffs to a championship with some hot streaks and some luck.
(11, 12) Fajita Eaters, Kelly’s Heroes – These guys are just on the outside looking in and I don’t think are quite ready for the playoffs this year. But again, with some luck or some buying or some of both these teams could be playoff bound this year.
(13, 14) Pro Bowlers, Rollin’ Goats – These teams are just stuck in a really tough NL top to bottom. Neither one has the pitching at present to make enough noise.
(15, 16) G.I. Zo’s, Banocolates – somebody’s got to be here. Also, these teams aren’t very good at present. It’s a process (I should know, I am the CPL record holder of the Markson Award for longest time owning the trophy – it was a fun 3 years).
