Summary
Moving on in our series, we take a look at the CPL Commissioner’s franchise checking in at #10 in our rankings. A rank that seems to be heavily driven by the value at the top with his Exponential rankings outpacing his Linear rankings by a few slots (for clarity on this logic, check out that Farm System Primer from earlier this week).
And what value that is. Julio Rodriguez leads off the org rankings, and represents the highest quality prospect we’ve reviewed so far. And this isn’t just a product of looking at the worst farm systems in the league prior to tonight, as there is only 1 prospect who provides more value in either of the two valuations systems in the whole league. Any and every farm system would be happy with a Julio at the top. After that it’s a steep drop off, but Jose Garcia, Detmers, McClanalanalanalan, Hudson Head and Wilcox are all respectable names that should provide solid MLB value some day. The farm dries up even more quickly after that, as the layer of “guys” only runs another 7 spots down the list with the rest of the farm being composed of fringy role players. Highlights from the latter portion of his farm include Huascar Ynoa, Sabato, Bitsko and Noah Song.
Ultimately, this farm is an excellent example of how far having one of the best prospects in the game can carry you, as there isn’t a whole lot here aside from Julio. With Julio sticking around at least a little while longer, a lack of projected high end draft picks, and only a few minor graduations in the nearer future, I would expect this farm to hang right around this ranking, only really moving up or down because the teams around him get better or worse. But, let’s not pretend to count the Your Mom franchise out, as they have shown a knack for acquiring value and talent in unexpected places.
This isn’t the best farm system the Your Mom franchise as had, but considering the long-standing run of playoff success, how can you complain? I’m willing to bet Ray will find a way.
