We’re getting to the point in the season where teams are starting to clinch their end of season positions, so I thought I would resurrect the classic Magic/Tragic Numbers segment despite popular demand.

Baby Seals, Tom Cat’s and Rollin’ Goats are pulling away from the cluster of 3-7 to make their own tier of three.
Kelly’s Heroes and Fajita Eaters fall down into a tier with Motley Shue. Or perhaps you could say Motley Shue has been promoted a tier. Either way, you have the final 3 playoff contenders.
Nelly’s Nellamaniacs and The Big Units are fading at the exact wrong time.
The Big Hurts is narrowing in on clinching the #6 pick.
Banocolates and BROB’s Barnacles are fighting for #4.
Pro Bowlers and Ball Busters are still fighting for #2, while G.I. Zo’s ain’t fighting for nothin’ at this point.

As predicted, Your Mom will almost assuredly clinch AL#1 after week 20.
Tom Cat’s, Fajita Eaters and Baby Seals are all likely to wait until the final week of the season before determining who enters the playoffs in which order.
The Big Units will likely clinch 5th after week 20.
Banocolates likely clinching no better than 6th in week 20, but in a dead heat race with BROB’s Barnacles for the coveted #7 spot, almost assuredly coming down to the wire.
G.I. Zo’s….you know how this goes. Nothin’ doin’ and ridin’ #8 to the bank.

Coming up just shy in week 19, Danimals is still confidently projected to clinch the NL in week 20.
For the next 4 playoff spots, little is decided. Rollin’ Goats will almost assuredly grab a slot at this point by virtue of winning his division, but between Kelly’s Heroes, Motley Shue and Nelly’s Nellamaniacs, there’s plenty of wiggle room available for any 2 of those 3 to find themselves in the 2021 playoffs. As for which of those 2 it will turn out to be we will not know until the final week of the season comes to a close.
The Big Hurts will undoubtedly clinch #6 in week 20.
Pro Bowlers and Ball Busters are fighting for #8 though and neither is looking to back down in this ultra competitive race to the bottom.
California Penal League
Remaining observations concerning the AL vs the NL include but are not limited to:
- Danimals has a magic number of 28.5 over Your Mom for best record in the CPL.
- Shockingly, Baby Seals, Tom Cat’s and even Rollin’ Goats are all still mathematically in the hunt for this honor. But, as the highest Tragic Number amongst them is 4.5, that battle will almost assuredly boil down to the much anticipated Your Mom V Danimals rivalry.
- The only remaining Magic Number for the Your Mom franchise vs any non-Danimals NL team is 6 over Rollin’ Goats
- Baby Seals and Tom Cat’s have Magic Numbers of 11 or lower over Nelly’s Nellamaniacs
- Fajita Eaters has a Magic Number of 22.5 over Nelly’s Nellamaniacs
- Rollin’ Goats, Kelly’s Heroes, Motley Shue, and Nelly’s Nellamanics all have Magic Numbers of 0.5, 9.5 12.5 and 19.5 respectively over The Big Units
- G.I. Zo’s has clinched the #1 pick slot in the 2022 draft. Congratulations.
- Ball Busters has Tragic Numbers of 16 and 17 over Banocolates and BROB’s Barnacles respectively for the #2 pick
- Pro Bowlers has has Tragic Numbers of 19 and 20 over the same duo for #3
- BROB’s Barnacles has a tragic number of 16 over The Big Hurts for #4
- The Banocolates have a Tragic Number of 17 over The Big Hurts for #5
- The Big Hurts has a Tragic Number of 20 over The Big Units for #6
- The Big Units have a Tragic Number of 19.5 over Nelly’s Nellamaniacs for #7.
