Last article in my “Pre-season” Series. Power Rankings.
I’ve taken my approach in converting MLB stats into Fantasy Wins and combined it with a Tom Cat’s proprietary projection model to come up with 2022 Fantasy Wins for each franchise.
I’m still playing around with my approach to using this information for the purpose of comparing franchises. My first attempt here is going to be weighting each franchises [Pro Roster+IL Roster] at 75%, and [Minor League Roster] at 25%. (Little League Rosters] are weighted at 0% for obvious reasons. Adjustments to this approach, as well as improvements to the projection model will hopefully yield improvements to this system over time. As these are power rankings, I am not making any adjustments for franchises that carry more or less MLB level guys. The more depth you have, the better your minor league roster looks. Keep in mind, we’re looking at a 1st generation analysis model. There’s many many many opportunities for improvement, and as a result these rankings should not be taken too seriously.
