Rem’s 2025 Mock Draft

After our rambling, incoherent podcast which at no point was even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought, I figured I’d double down on misinformation and make a Mock.

1. BROB’s Barnacles- Roki Sasaki- It’s literally written into the trade for this pick. Boring! Should’ve written in a clause for his inevitable Tommy John surgery too. zzzzzing!
2. BROB’s Barnacles- J.J. Wetherholt- Like discussed on the podcast, 2-6 could really go any which way, but for what it’s worth, I really like Wetherholt, and his bat at a premium position stands out a touch.
3. Danimals- Nick Kurtz- As also discussed on the podcast, the A’s are not a knock on Kurtz, as they have developed a little talent here and there, and figures to be a beast, at a thin fantasy position to boot.
4. Banocolates- Travis Bazzana- This is probably a wish for Jeff that I’m trying to put into the universe, but this is also as far as Bazzana slides, too. It’s not a knock on him as the #1 pick, but I do like Kurtz and Wetherholt more.
5. The Big Units- Chase Burns- After missing out on Paul Skenes by one pick last year, Carroll stocks his arms with the best draftee arm on the board, and someone who should be up and contributing soon.
6. Danimals- Charlie Condon- “Condom Chuck” as I’m going to be calling him has the ‘light tower power’ that everyone covets, but I think questions about his hit tool, debut and organization ding him a little.
7. Pro Bowlers- Konnor Griffin- Perhaps the highest ceiling of the hitters in the draft, Griffin becomes the first high schooler off the board, where Pat isn’t afraid to take on the risk of this absolute Tool Shed.
8. Baby Seals- Jac Caglianone- You can make a pretty good argument for Caglianone to be in the top tier of college hitters, but there’s a few questions marks. Fred gets A. his replacement for Alonso and B. a Royal!
9. Danimals- Josuar Gonzalez- With his 18 picks in the first round, Dan has much more leeway to diversify a bit and take a swing at a high ceiling IFA, and Josuar seems to be the top dog this year.
10. Banocolates- Cam Smith- Jeff professed his love for this Cub refugee on the pod, and he’s got a bat that’s easy to like, and a profile that Jeff tends to like as well. It’s a match made at Portillo’s.
11. Pro Bowlers- Hagen Smith- This is a decent pick in a vacuum, but Pat has a fairly decent need for pitching, and Smith provides the highest upside here, although Pat taking Blue Jay Trey Yesavage wouldn’t shock me either.
12. Danimals- Seaver King- Dan’s got a lot of picks, and so far he’s collected two college bats and the top IFA, so it makes sense that he’d snag a top High School hitter here. Or, he could also opt for a pitcher like Yesavage or Cam Caminiti.
13. Kelly’s Heroes- Elian Pena- JK has never shied away from an IFA ceiling in his little stock market game that he plays with prospects, and Pena compares well with top dog Josuar.
14. Nellamaniacs- Braden Montgomery- Nelly is a bit of a wildcard sometimes on draft day, but I just have a feel that Montgomery’s Plus Power will beckon Nelly in.
15. Motley Shue- PJ Morlando- I brought up this kid on the pod, and since prospects are all about absurd comps, I’m going to liken his to one Christian Yelich, for many reasons. Who drafted Yelich?
16. G.I. Zo’s- Bryce Rainer- Doing my best not to mock Chris drafting Steven Zobac here for comedic purposes, maybe later in the draft? Rainer is an interesting prospect, about as loved as you could expect a statuesque teenage shortstop to be loved.
