Rem’s First Mock Draft

Why not?

1. Kelly’s Heroes- Wyatt Langford, OF Tex- JK takes the most likely superstar of this draft, a kid who was highly touted then blistered every level in half a year, and could very likely see the bigs this year.
2. G.I. Zo’s- Yoshinobu Yamamoto, SP LAD- Zobrack is hopefully pivoting to compete, so this pick makes sense, even if his team isn’t ready yet. But also- Yamamoto likely has the most value in the draft.
3. BROB’s Barnacles- Dylan Crews, OF Was- Brian has a bunch of great options here, but Crews has a great track record and is also close to being ready as well, so he’s a good fit to quicken the rebuild.
4. Kelly’s Heroes- Walter Jenkins, OF Min- Jenkins could very well be the best player in this draft when it’s all said and done, but he’s still a teenager, so this pick fits JK’s needs and timeline perfectly.
5. Baby Seals- Jung Hoo Lee, OF SF- Fred is in a precarious position, as he’d absolutely love to land Yamamoto after passing on Senga last year, but I think he takes a sure thing either way.
6. Danimals- Max Clark, OF Det- Dan is in tune enough with prospects to know that Clark is neck and neck on quality with Jenkins, so I think it’s a good get here, picking up the scraps of the first tier.
7. The Big Units- Paul Skenes, SP Pit- Pitching Prospects and the first round of the CPL draft are a match made in Hades, but Carroll has not been afraid of trying to land big arms in the past.
8. Your Mom- Colt Emerson, SS, Sea- Ray allegedly is now sticking around at 8, so he must have a few guys he likes in that neighborhood, and in the absence of any Shockers, I’m throwing a dart here.
9. Banacolates- Matt Shaw, SS ChC- A college hitter, with a presumably high floor, who is a middle infielder and plays for the Cubs? Jeff might have a full blown seizure if Shaw falls to him.
10. BROB’s Barnacles- Rhett Lowder, SP Cin- Brian is one not afraid of taking pitching early, and I really like Lowder in this draft, in the mold Aaron ‘he’s too solid to not be boring’ Nola, who panned out.
11. BROB’s Barnacles- Bryce Eldridge, SF OF- Eldridge gets a bunch of Aaron Judge comps because he’s also a massive human being, and if memory serves me, Brian also selected Judge in the draft.
12. Kelly’s Heroes- Noble Meyer, SP Mia- JK rubs his hands together vigorously at all the upside gambles he can take at this point, and Meyer is just that, as the top HS arm in the draft with quite the ceiling.
13. Kelly’s Heroes- Leodalis De Vries, SS SD- Another JK pure upside pick here, as he’s almost guaranteed to take at least one IFA in this 4 pick stretch, and LDV seems to be the consensus #1.
14. Kelly’s Heroes- Brayden Taylor, 3B TB- Another interesting upside pick, as Taylor can hit the lights out and Tampa is pretty good at developing guys, if JK can only forgive them for Josh Sale.
15. Kelly’s Heroes- Kyle Teel, C Bos- I’m not super high on Teel, but he does seem like a pretty solid bet to be a major league starter at a tough position to fill, so I get the value in this pick, as Ray joked.
16. Pro Bowlers- Aiden Miller, 3B Phi- Pat likes power, and Miller’s got a good mix of power and enough hit tool to even get to it occasionally. His solid pro debut is just icing on the cake.
