I’m going to throw draft grades out, because why not.
But, not really.
I’m just going to pick my favorite pick from each round with a handful of honorable mentions.
Round # – Player (Team): Meaningless Banter
1 – Colt Emerson (Your Mom): I do not like typing this. But, I’m a big Colt Emerson fan, and he fell to Ray. Wah wah.
2 – Nolan Schanuel (Danimals): Really big fan of Schanuel. And he fell to the 2nd. I had him in my top 7. Hard to not select this as my favorite round 2 pick.
3 – Colin Houck (BROB’s Barnacles): Skipping my own picks because, duh, of course I like my own picks, Houck comes in as my favorite non-Tom Cat’s selection of the third round. At one point (very) early in my draft board, I had Houck even above Schanuel! But, that was a silly board and one that I definitely should not talk about in polite company.
4 – Jacob Gonzalez (Nellamaniacs): Jacob Gonzalez! Jacob Gonzalez! Jacob Gonzalez!!! As good of a bit as Gonzalez was for two rounds, I still liked him well enough. And late in the 4th I thought was really good value.
5 – Yandel Ricardo (Fajita Eaters): I really liked Yovanny Rodriguez (Your Mom), but Ray already had enough attention, so I figured I’d shift some to the CPL champ. I was really hoping Ricardo would fall to me 18 picks later, but at the time there were a few other names that I was comfortable with as fall backs so I wasn’t too distraught.
6 – Mitch Jebb (The Big Units): This one hurt me as I really wanted him with my next pick in 11 selections, but what can you do. Nice get Carrol. Might be my “Value pick of the draft” if I were to succumb to such lowly click bait schticks.
7 – Aidan Smith (Rollin’ Goats): Not my favorite Aidan in the draft, but one of my favorite picks in the round! I also really liked Jose Urbina (Your Mom), who I somehow missed during my highly attentive draft board management and tried to pick up afterwards.
8 – Dario Laverde (Kelly’s Heroes): Skipping over my two picks in the round, my 3rd favorite pick was Dario. I know nothing about him. But my computer likes him well enough for an 8th round pick. High praise indeed.
9 – Tyler Kinley (Banocolates): Because I refuse to highlight more Your Mom picks (god damn you Antonio Anderson you sexy bastard!), the honor for round 9 will go to this fine reliever. Will Kinley be good? How many Saves will he get? Holds? Will anyone care? Will he be dropped at the deadline!??! Earlier!??!?!?!?! Only time will tell.
10 – Zander Mueth (The Big Hurts): Skipping my picks again, I go with Mueth. He’s at least a 75 grade name, so he’s got a great floor to work off of.
Supplemental – Blake Dickerson (Motley Shue): I’m not going to do each supplemental round individually, but I’ll call out one pick that my system likes. I’m not sure if it’s his SP4 ceiling, his MRP floor, or the fact that his name is Dickson, but either way, my zero’s and one’s are a fan, so I’ll call him out right here.
Honorable Mentions:
G.I. Zo’s – Thomas White (3rd round) – Big fan of White. Had him towards the top of my SP board. Ahead of several arms taken ahead of him. A very nice addition to a very deep draft class for the Zo’s franchise.
Baby Seals – Victor Hurtado (7th round) – A big money IFA in the 7th round? Did JK AND Zo run out of picks? What’re the odds. I hope he makes it to the bigs someday for the nickname potential alone.
Pro Bowlers – Huston Waldrep (1st round) – Well, I didn’t have much of a choice as Pro Bowler’s only pick in the draft. And being completely transparent, I’m not a huge fan of Waldrep. But, presumably, Pat got his guy at 16, so well done! Hope you had a safe flight.
Ball Busters – Blake Wolters (5th round) – Wolters is an arm that I believe my computer likes significantly more than the industry. And as my gibberish spreadsheets will attest, this must mean Wolter’s will be a sick steal for years to come.
Tom Cat’s – Jhonny Level (10th round) – I just couldn’t write up a thousand words and not toot my own horn. It’s a thursday tradition of mine. Masturbation jokes aside, Level is a hype IFA bat lottery ticket who might someday be a thing…? Sounds like an Honorable Mention candidate to me!
